Organizers paid for all the expenses involved in putting on the event, so that all contributions and participation fees ($1,000!) went directly to the ACLU of Wisconsin and LWV Wisconsin to support voting rights and voter registration. LWV WI in turn split its share with LWVDC for our support of the event.

Wisconsin has the distinction of being the first state to ratify the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution, granting women the right to vote. To mark the 99th anniversary of this milestone, a group of voting rights enthusiasts at the UW organized the Suffrage Run/Walk on June 10. The 1.9 kilometer community walk began at Sterling Hall on campus and ended at the statue of Forward on the Capitol Square.
