LWV Dane County members and the public are invited to join us for our annual Lively Issues Luncheon! Join us for a delicious meal and a thoughtful keynote address exploring the intersection of race, education, and civic involvement.

Featuring Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings
About our speaker: Professor Emerita Gloria Ladson-Billings is the former Kellner Family Distinguished Professor of Urban Education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and faculty affiliate in the Department of Educational Policy Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Dr. Ladson-Billings’ research examines the pedagogical practices of teachers who are successful with African American students. She also investigates Critical Race Theory applications to education. She is the author of many critically acclaimed books, including The Dreamkeepers: Successful Teachers of African American Children and Crossing Over to Canaan: The Journey of New Teachers in Diverse Classrooms, as well as numerous journal articles and book chapters. She has been honored with numerous awards for her contributions to academia and the community.

Unloading and limited parking is at the Administration lot off Anderson St.
If you choose this entrance, the luncheon room is immediately to the right of the doors.

Continue on west on Anderson
Turn left on Hoffman (one block)
Enter parking area — Lot A has plenty of parking
Follow pathway to your right and cross over Wright Street
The main building (Truax Gateway Bldg.) will be straight ahead
Enter and continue walking down the hall (Betsy Barhorst Welcome Center is there if you need any help)
Keep walking straight ahead, past Mitby Theater
Turn right at the cafeteria and continue to the end/doors
The large Banquet Room will be to your left (Room 1630)
