1. Please describe your priorities for your term in office and your specific qualifications to effectively address those issues. I have leadership experience, having commanded a military hospital and troops deployed overseas. My priorities in office will be to bring the Democrats and Republicans into a partnership, to address problems they ignore. The problems are climate change, the environment, gun violence, racial disparities and injustice, the cost of health care, integrity of the voting process, systemic challenges to our schools, and infrastructure deterioration.

2. What will you do to reduce gun violence and keep our neighborhoods and schools safe? I own guns. I have also experienced gun violence first hand. I support the 2nd amendment. I do not believe rapid fire weapons belong in the open market. I would support our police and I would support changes to the way guns are sold in Wisconsin, to reduce the chance of gun violence happening in our public places. I would seek the advice of educators, students, teachers, parents, and peace officers to find a workable solution. We all want to fix this. We can fix this.

3. Do you support taking advantage of the federal funding to expand Medicaid and cover more people under BadgerCare? Why or why not? Yes. Wisconsin cannot solve the medical care cost problems alone. We must work with the federal government and every other partner we can find, to provide affordable care for all. One of my biggest priorities will be to reduce the cost of medicines. I see patients in tears every week, because they cannot afford their medicines. I have seen generic medicines that I prescribe increase 20 fold, in one year.

4. Racial disparities exist in child poverty rates, educational achievement, infant mortality rates, incarceration rates, and other issues facing Wisconsinites. What will you do to reduce racial disparities throughout Wisconsin? I grew up in Detroit, attended racially diverse schools, experienced crime, poverty and drugs first hand. I was mugged and pistol-whipped. My brother became a heroin addict. Both my brother and sister were high school drop outs. The key to reducing racial disparities is equality of opportunity. All barriers to education must be removed. If Cuba can drive down infant mortality, we can too. It starts with enough to eat, good schools, security at home, solid basic services.
