LWVWI Executive Director Andrea Kaminski was interviewed on WPT's weekly news magazine Here and Now on Feb. 12 about SB/AB 295, the bill that introduces electronic voter registration (good), but includes a number of serious voter suppression items, especially the elimination of Special Registration Deputies to assist with voter registration for the many, many electors who lack the Wisconsin Driver License or ID card that is the only form of identity that can be used for online voter registration under the bill. Senator Devin LeMahieu, sponsor of the bill, also was interviewed. If you missed the program, you can watch it online. Watch Kaminski here and LaMaheiu here.
At a press conference at the Capitol Thursday, Kaminski and representatives of many other groups, spoke about wide-ranging efforts underway to help seniors disenfranchised by the new voter ID law to be prepared with suitable voter photo ID. Also speaking at the conference were Jay Heck, Executive Director of Common Cause in Wisconsin; Tom Frazier, former Executive Director of Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups (CWAG); Janet Zander, Advocacy and Public Policy Coordinator for Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources (GWAAR); and
