Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District Referenda
Shall the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District, Dane County, Wisconsin be authorized to issue pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Wisconsin Statutes, general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $138,900,000 for the public purpose of paying the cost of capital improvements of a school building and improvement program consisting of construction and equipping of a new elementary school; construction and equipping of an addition to the high school and related remodeling, demolition of a portion of the existing high school facility and reconstruction of the facility; construction and equipping of a cafeteria addition to Park Elementary School; and remodeling of the current Clark Street Community School for use as an early learning site for the District?

Shall the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District, Dane County, Wisconsin be authorized to exceed the revenue limit specified in Section 121.91, Wisconsin Statutes, by $2,800,000 for the 2019-2020 school year and by an additional $2,000,000 (for a total of $4,800,000) for the 2020- 2021 school year and thereafter, for recurring purposes, including staffing costs and other operational expenses associated with new and expanded facilities, technology upgrades, safety and security upgrades, and equipment?

The District indicates that one elementary school, one community school, and Middleton High School are over capacity, and that six of the remaining seven District schools are at 92-98% capacity now. Projections show that the District will be more than 1,100 students over capacity in four years.
The District estimates that the additional cost of both the capital and operational referenda would be $398 annually for a home with $200,000 value.
